A Historian studies past events using a wide range of sources such as written records, physical artifacts, photographs, interviews, films, letters and other primary source documents. They collect information from these sources to answer questions about what was happening in the past and why at a given time. They try to understand how and why things change over time. History can be divided into three major specialisations -- archaeology, museology and archival studies.
