The ITBP or Indo-Tibetan Border Police is a wing of the central armed police force specialising in high-altitude operations. The main role of an ITBP officer is to preserve peace and security in the border of India and Tibet which extends from Ladakh all the way to Myanmar, as well as prevent cross border crimes such as smuggling.

Entry Pathway
1. Complete 10+2 in any stream, preferably the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)
2. Complete a Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc.) in any Engineering course.
3. Complete a Bachelor's degree following which you must clear the ITBP recruitment program For admission into the Engineering course, you must clear examinations such as JEE Advanced, JEE Main, MET, VITEEE, MHT CET, SRMJEE, COMEDK, UGET, KCET and so on.

Where will you work?
Places of Work: You can find employment in the ITBP and become a part of the force of 60 Battalions with 15 Sectors and 05 Frontiers.
Work Environment: The work timings are typically 6 to 7 days a week for 8 to 9 hours per day. Shift system is applicable. You are expected to deal with challenging situations. Most of the work is outdoors.

Expected Income
The approx. salary of an ITBP officer ranges between INR 56,100 - 1,77,500* per month.
Prakriti - After the government allowed women officers in the ITBP in 2016, Prakriti cleared the UPSC exam for officers' recruitment in CAPFs in the same year and in her first attempt. She is expected to be commissioned as an Assistant Commandant (AC) next year in the force after she completes her training at Dehradun.*
