Entry Pathway
1. Complete 10+2 in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Maths
2. Complete Bachelor's degree in Planning/Civil Engineering/Architecture/ Urban or Regional Planning
OR
Complete Bachelor’s degree, followed by Master's degree in Planning/Master of Technology in Urban or Regional Planning/ Master of Architecture in Urban Design
OR
Complete Bachelor's degree, followed by Master's degree and then opt for Ph.D. in Urban Science and Engineering.
For admissions to the Bachelor courses, you must qualify entrance examinations such as JEE Main, NATA, UPSEE, etc. Admissions to PG course require entrance exam like GATE.

• Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Scholarship - This scholarship is provided to students enrolled in the first year of their engineering undergraduate course. Eligibility includes an aptitude test. It is awarded by the Government of India for economically backward students who have a strong aptitude for scientific research.*
• Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship - About 20,000 such engineering scholarships are awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs every year. The full course fees of awardees is directly paid to their institutions under this scheme.*
• Indian Oil Educational Scholarship - The IOC Ltd offers 300 scholarships every year to eligible students. Students need to be enrolled in an undergraduate course. The scholarship particularly focuses on students with physical disabilities, women and students from North East and J&K.*

Places of Work: You can work with Central government, State government, Local bodies- municipal authorities, architectural firms etc.
Work Environment: As an urban planner, you will mostly work out of an office, but also travel frequently to different project sites. You will do planning, designing and presentation work in the office and meet with clients, developers, engineers, architects and public officials.
Opportunities for work exist for differently abled in this field
Dr. NB Johri is a senior Urban and Regional Planner who has a doctorate in Geographical planning. The firm led by him has successfully completed planning projects in India and other countries. One of his most recent international works is the master plan for Dubai Outlet City. He is also a senior consultant for several city development, transport planning and infrastructure planning projects.
